Hazel Aberegg named female 2007 West Virginia Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award winner

BUCKHANNON, WV – November 29, 2007 – Hazel Aberegg, of Hundred, WV, has been named the 2007 female West Virginia Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award winner. Mrs. Aberegg was nominated by the Wetzel County Farm Bureau.  One male and one female Farm Bureau member is recognized each year for their outstanding contribution to the establishment, development, advancement or improvement of agriculture in West Virginia.

Mrs. Aberegg and her husband, Neil, raised a variety of livestock before changing the focus of their farming operation to forestry several years ago.

Aberegg served for several years as the Wetzel County Farm Bureau’s Women’s Chairperson.  Along with overseeing all the details for annual meetings, candidates nights, and annual picnics, she worked diligently with local schools to coordinate events such as poster contests, Heritage Days and Safety Day Camps, to further the cause of agriculture in West Virginia.

Mrs. Aberegg has been honored with the 50+ CEOS Membership Award, and along with her husband has received the Honorary Farmer Degree from both the Hundred and Magnolia Future Farmers of America, and the 50+ year Farm Bureau Membership Award.  They are also two-time recipients of the Conservation Farmers of the Year Award.

The Abereggs are the proud parents of seven children.
