Applicants sought for 2008 Farming Heritage Award

The West Virginia Farm Bureau and the State Fair of West Virginia are seeking applicants for the 2008 Farming Heritage Award.

The Farming Heritage Award is presented to a family who has aspired to maintain their rural lifestyle by contributing to the community, acting as role models, dedicating time to efficient agricultural production and to maintaining the upkeep of their farm.

Winning families will be honored at an award ceremony during the State Fair on Governor's Day, as well as being treated to a luncheon, overnight accommodations, free admission to the Fair, and preferred parking. They will also receive a Natural Stone sign award engraved with the family's name that may be displayed indoors or outdoors.  A photo and brief biography of the winners will be displayed in the Gus R. Douglass Annex during the State Fair.

If you would like your family to be considered for this award, the application is available at the State Fair’s website at http://statefairofwv.org/Fair-News/2008-Heritage-Awards.html, or at the West Virginia Farm Bureau’s website at www.wvfarm.org., or you may call Joan Harman at the West Virginia Farm Bureau at 800-398-4630 x. 306. The deadline for application is June 13. See the application for further details.

Representing more than 17,000 members, the West Virginia Farm Bureau was founded in 1919 to provide leadership, education, information, training and economic services to county farm bureaus to enhance the quality of life for its membership.
