West Virginia Farm Bureau celebrates Food Check Out Week with donations to Ronald McDonald Houses
BUCKHANNON, WV - On Saturday, March 6, West Virginia Farm Bureau members will gather at the Kroger on Patteson Drive in Morgantown at 10:30 a.m. to mark Food Check Out Week.
During Food Check-Out Week observances, WVFB members collect donations and volunteer to shop at area grocery stores, purchasing meats, non-perishable foods and paper products to donate to each of the three Ronald McDonald Houses in West Virginia.
Located in Charleston, Huntington, and Morgantown, the West Virginia Ronald McDonald Houses provide overnight housing, cooking, bathing and laundry facilities for the families of sick children undergoing treatment at local hospitals. These facilities are available at low or no cost to the family members, a real godsend to those struggling with the expenses of a catastrophic illness.
Last year, WVFB donated more than $10,000 in food and supplies to Ronald McDonald Houses in West Virginia.
Representing more than 21,000 members, the West Virginia Farm Bureau was founded in 1919 to provide leadership, education, information, training and economic services to county farm bureaus to enhance the quality of life for its membership.
